After having chosen the specific piece of artwork I wanted to transcribe I decided that I wanted to take a risk and to create a stop-motion animation for the first time.
In Michael Landy's piece ' Saint Jerome' I loved the idea of mechanics and so I decided I wanted to create a character made out of screws and paper clips and try to make him move like a robot. My initial idea was to make the character be a puppet and not be in control of his body however, during the crit I was told that I needed to find a reason for the character not having control over his body. After a long discussion with the other students in my group I finally came up with the idea of having my character have Parkinson's Disease which would explain why he cannot control his body.
